Full Circle? – Finding the way home…

Friday 7th – Sunday 9th December, 2018
Home. It is an evocative word. The images it conjures are different for each of us, yet few other words touch heart and mind in quite the same way. Birth and death, laughter and love, longing, fear and aspiration… the cycle of human life plays out within its walls.
For many, there is another ‘home’ beyond the physical confines of this world. That too may seem different for each of us and the path to its threshold is shaped by dreams. Few places illustrate this as clearly as Castlerigg, an ancient stone circle ringed by mountains and one of the most spectacular sites in the country.
The people who have walked this world before us have left traces of their lives and belief, written in stone upon the landscape. From church to stone circle, castle to cavern, finding the way home has always been intimately linked with the land. Join us in a winter landscape to explore these hidden pathways of mind and heart.
The Silent Eye hosts a number of events each year, from our annual Weekend Workshop in Derbyshire to our ‘Living land’ and ‘Walk and Talk’ gatherings. All events are open to non-members and Companions of the School and they are a great way to meet us, explore the teachings we share and spend time with fellow travellers. The weekends are relaxed and informal, no previous knowledge or experience is required. We ask only that you bring your own presence and thoughts to the moment.
Workshop costs £50 per person. Meals and accomodation in Penrith are not included and should be booked separately by all attendees. Lunch and dinner are usually shared meals.

I wish there were a way to attend one of these wonderful events, but I honestly do not think I can afford to do it, and I think if I were able to get there, I would not leave! But it is OK. I will enjoy it in my own ways. I have a significant other too and would not like to leave him behind even though he is not too much into understanding what I am studying. It will be shared in my heart and mind/spirit anyway.
It is for those who cannot attend that we share so much of what we do online, Anne.
Thank you very kindly Sue and all. I have been able to go online and look up most of the sites and read more about them and see photos of them, so that has given me a better sense of them overall, and I love “visiting” the sites and learning all kinds of interconnected things. Being in the study has been an incredibly rich journey, even for the stay-at-home senior. Thank you one and all again.

There is a spirit – a sense of life in everything that is shared that is just wonderful. I love the things that feel good to my spirit, and they are often funny things like rocks and hills, flowers, and blades of grass, or old ruins and the stories about them. This has been the best gift I have given myself. Regardless of the outcome, I will never regret taking this course. I love all the people I have met here and also the stories – always the stories. I have loved stories since I was a little girl and I would always sit at the base of my grandma’s rocking chair and ask her to tell me stories, which she always would. I would rub her soft and well wrinkled skin, and in a very short minute, I was transported magically to a beautiful place. Grandmas can do that, you know. They have a sort of magic that most adults have forgotten. My grandma could turn making coleslaw into a major adventure with all sorts of secrets that would someday have to be uncovered because she would never let me know what she was putting into it, but it had to be the best in the world!!! So when I read these posts, there is something that is alive and good and ancient that lives on in the three of you, and it is appreciated beyond any words I can think of. You are all very appreciated.

Once again, the rocks and the hills and the places come alive for me – definitely alive. I can almost feel their soft wind that swirls around them – a soft and welcoming breath.
